SUMMARY:Lunch + Learn: Trusting God in Job Transitions
DESCRIPTION:In Michaela O’Donnell’s book Life in Flux\, she cites research that found the average American experiences 30-40 major life transitions during adulthood. This is certainly true in the ever-changing landscape of job responsibilities\, sectors\, employers\, or interests. We pursue new projects at work\, we are staffed on undesirable assignments\, we cultivate new interests and step out in faith to pursue them\, we are hired and fired at unpredictable times – And in all of this\, as Christians\, we want to trust the God who is faithful\, powerful\, and loving. \nThis conversation will invite faithful\, dedicated leaders in our city to share parts of their story of job transitions as a way to encourage attendees to remain connected to God\, connected to community\, confident in His Love\, and growing in trust as they navigate their own transitions. \nJoin us for a discussion on faithfulness in the workplace with Tamekia Brewer\, Lane Ford\, and Lesley Scearce to hear their reflections on: \n\nHow job transitions have challenged their trust in God\nHow God has shown himself trustworthy through these seasons of change\nPractices that have helped them lean on God in these transitions\n\nWhether you’re currently navigating a transition of your own or looking for wisdom for future changes big and small\, we invite you to join us to hear from these leaders and connect with others seeking wisdom and reminders on what it looks like to practically put their trust in God. \nWe hope to see you there! \nLunch will be provided.

SUMMARY:Women\, Work\, & Calling Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:As women\, our work has often been framed in compartmentalized or hierarchical ways — work life v. home life\, public life v. private life\, professional roles v. relational roles. This can leave us exhausted as we try to keep things in balance. \nBut what if we saw our calling as bigger than a single role or job. What if we saw calling as a whole life response to God? \nJoin us for a conversation on seeking wholeness instead of balance as we learn to embrace the tensions of our vocations. We’ll spend our time discussing topics like work-life balance\, integration\, and calling. You’ll also have plenty of time to meet other women in the room\, and browse the beautiful hand-crafted goods at Amani ya Juu. \nWe hope you’ll join us as we gather for meaningful relationships and cultivate our imaginations for how God might be inviting us to bring our full selves into our various vocations.

SUMMARY:Summer Book Clubs
DESCRIPTION:Summer Book Clubs are back! We’re excited to offer 3 different book clubs this summer. Sign up below if you’re interested in participating in one or more of these discussions. We’ll share a reminder of start dates\, times\, and locations the first week of June. \nWomen\, Work\, & Calling: Step into Your Place in God’s World*\nby Joanna Meyer\nThis book addresses a critical gap in Christian women’s discipleship by speaking to the roles we play in public and professional life. Acknowledging the brokenness of workplaces and industries\, it provides a theological framework for women’s work and influence and offers resources for the challenges of working life.\n\nTwo meeting options: * This is a women’s specific book club\n\n\nTuesday afternoons\, 12-1pm at the Faith Co-Op office\n\nJune 2 – June 30 (5 weeks)\n\n\nThursday evenings\, 6-7pm\n\nJune 4 – July 2 (5 weeks)\n\n\n\n\nGood Work\, Deep Rest*\nby Denver Institute for Faith & Work\nWhile vacations can be fun and refreshing\, they offer a temporary solution to a deeper problem: the unbalanced relationship between work and rest that characterizes many women’s working lives. God invites us to experience a different rhythm of life\, one in which work and rest coexist. In this discussion guide\, you’ll: learn that work and rest are interdependent\, discuss how the inner dynamics of identity\, trust\, and limits affect our ability to rest\, and explore the biblical principles of Sabbath.\n\n\nMeeting Thursday mornings\, 7:30-8:30pm at Cadence Coffee\nJune 4 – July 1\n* This is a women’s specific book club\n\n  \n\nFaithful Work: In the Daily Grind with God and for Others\nby Ross Chapman\nThe gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for the world\, and that includes the transformation of our ordinary work into a sacred calling. Ross Chapman and Ryan Tafilowski invite you to reflect on the meaning and purpose of your life’s work and to transform your work into service to those around you.\n\n\nMeeting Tuesday afternoons\,12-1pm at the Faith Co-Op office\nJuly 7 – August 4 (5 weeks)

SUMMARY:Seeing Our Work as Holy Ground
DESCRIPTION:What would it look like for you to see your workplace as holy ground? \nThroughout Scripture\, God uses ordinary people and places to speak\, transform\, and further His mission. He meets Moses in the desert (Exodus 3)\, a Samaritan woman at a well (John 4)\, and two fishermen casting their nets on a boat (Luke 5). Again and again\, ordinary places become settings for encounters with God. \nThe same can be true of our work. We don’t need extraordinary jobs to encounter God or be used by Him. Whether we work from home\, in an office cubicle\, behind a barber chair\, or in a transport truck\, God is present because He has made his dwelling among us. Our workplaces are set apart —and that changes how we see the places and people around us. \nJoin us Tuesday\, September 1\, from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. to hear from Sarah Arata and Nate Adams about what it means to see their work as holy ground. Sarah\, an account executive\, and Nate\, a local barber\, will share how they see their places of vocation as spaces where God is forming them into the likeness of Christ and using their work for the good of others. \nAbout the Series\nOver the past year\, we’ve heard from people across industries and career stages who share a common challenge: staying connected to God in their daily work. The pace and demands of our lives both within and outside of our jobs can make it difficult to pay attention to God’s presence in the everyday. \nThis series is an invitation to just do that. Over the next few months\, we’ll hear from people across professions about the challenges they face\, the spiritual practices they lean on\, and the biblical truths that help draw their attention back to God. From entering our workspace to starting a meeting\, sending an email\, updating a spreadsheet\, or talking with a colleague\, God is already present—and inviting us to do our work with Him.

SUMMARY:WWC Ages & Stages: When Your Work is Unpaid
DESCRIPTION:Our culture often ties personal worth to a paycheck. This mindset creates a quiet crisis of identity during unpaid seasons. Whether you are parenting\, volunteering\, or changing careers\, your work still matters. Without a paycheck\, we easily question our value and productivity. In this session\, we will explore: \n\n\nHow do you separate your personal identity and self-worth from your earnings? \n\n\nHow can you measure the real value of your time\, energy\, and mind when no market price exists? \n\n\nHow do you spot God’s creative work through you in quiet\, lonely\, or unseen tasks? \n\n\nWhich daily practices help you trust God with your identity when your work is unpaid?

SUMMARY:WWC Ages & Stages: Singleness & Work
DESCRIPTION:Single professionals lead and grow careers without the built-in support of a spouse. While many faith communities treat marriage as the default model for adulthood\, they often miss the tremendous freedom that comes with being single and stewarding a career. It’s one of many assumptions that can be reframed by a clear sense of calling. In this session\, we will explore: \n\n\nHow can you build a sustainable life and healthy career boundaries when leading solo? \n\n\nHow do you embrace your work as a place of full spiritual agency right now? \n\n\nHow can you hold career opportunities and personal grief or loss in healthy tension? \n\n\nWhich practices help you attune to God’s presence and ground your identity in Christ?

SUMMARY:Praying Without Words
DESCRIPTION:In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Paul urges the church to pray without ceasing. But how do we pray and work at the same time? How can we pray continuously and balance a spreadsheet\, draft website copy\, or lead a meeting? \nPrayer is more than the words we say to God. It’s listening\, communing with God\, and becoming present to the One who is already present with us. What might it look like to carry that kind of prayer into our everyday work? \nJoin us Tuesday\, October 20\, from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. to hear from Lakweshia Ewing\, Founder of Unlearn Everything and Live\, Nick Pacurari\, VP of Student Life at Bryan College\, and Tim Hewitt\, a defense attorney at Logan-Thompson\, about what it looks like to offer their work as a form of prayer. They’ll share how they’ve wrestled with the relationship between prayer and work\, and ways they’ve learned to turn their attention to God in prayer –no matter the task or conversation. SUMMARY:Women\, Work\, & Calling Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:Find Your Place in God’s Story\nWorking women have had a seat at God’s table from the very beginning. \nThey’re there in the pages of Scripture: midwives and prophets\, entrepreneurs and artists\, leaders and laborers\, patrons and harvesters. But if our eyes have not been trained to see them\, we can miss the women whose work\, worship\, and influence advanced God’s purposes in the world. \nJoin a global community of women at WWC26 on Friday\, October 30 to rediscover the stories of working women in Scripture—and through their lives\, encounter God in ways that reshape your own. \nWe’ll explore three timeless themes for our work today: \n\nStrength — Recover God’s original design for women as strong partners in his work.\nCourage — Follow the example of women who spoke up\, took risks\, and remained faithful in complicated circumstances.\nRighteousness — Learn to lead with vision and generosity in a world that deeply needs both.\n\nWWC26 will gather women from across industries\, churches\, and life stages for biblical teaching\, honest conversation\, and practical wisdom tailored to the challenges and opportunities working women face. Faith Co-Op is an official host site of WWC26. We will be joining dozens of other cities streaming the conference live from right here in Chattanooga.

SUMMARY:Practicing Friendship at Work
DESCRIPTION:We spend a large portion of our time each week working alongside other people\, yet we often think of friendship as something only to be pursued in our life outside of our profession.  Being known at work can feel too messy or complicated. But what if the people we spend those hours with hold more possibility for friendship than we usually imagine? \nIn our lunch conversation on December 3\, we’ll explore what friendship at work can look like and how it shapes our personal\, professional\, and spiritual lives. We’ll hear from two pairs of friends (Jessica Whatley and Rachel Gammon\, and Travis Lytle and William Bryan) as they share how their friendships began\, how those relationships shape the way they show up in their work\, and how they have come to know more of who God is through one another. \nWe invite you to join us and bring a friend! Together\, let’s consider how friendships can be reminders of God’s presence in our work\, even in the most unlikely moments or ways. \n  \nAbout the Series\nOver the past year\, we’ve heard from people across industries and career stages who share a common challenge: staying connected to God in their daily work.
