SUMMARY:Seeing Our Work as Holy Ground
DESCRIPTION:What would it look like for you to see your workplace as holy ground? \nThroughout Scripture\, God uses ordinary people and places to speak\, transform\, and further His mission. He meets Moses in the desert (Exodus 3)\, a Samaritan woman at a well (John 4)\, and two fishermen casting their nets on a boat (Luke 5). Again and again\, ordinary places become settings for encounters with God. \nThe same can be true of our work. We don’t need extraordinary jobs to encounter God or be used by Him. Whether we work from home\, in an office cubicle\, behind a barber chair\, or in a transport truck\, God is present because He has made his dwelling among us. Our workplaces are set apart —and that changes how we see the places and people around us. \nJoin us Tuesday\, September 1\, from 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. to hear from Sarah Arata and Nate Adams about what it means to see their work as holy ground. Sarah\, an account executive\, and Nate\, a local barber\, will share how they see their places of vocation as spaces where God is forming them into the likeness of Christ and using their work for the good of others. \nAbout the Series\nOver the past year\, we’ve heard from people across industries and career stages who share a common challenge: staying connected to God in their daily work. The pace and demands of our lives both within and outside of our jobs can make it difficult to pay attention to God’s presence in the everyday. \nThis series is an invitation to just do that. Over the next few months\, we’ll hear from people across professions about the challenges they face\, the spiritual practices they lean on\, and the biblical truths that help draw their attention back to God. DESCRIPTION:If the wisdom of God is embedded in the universe\, then we have opportunities to exercise Godly wisdom in every area of life. What does this mean for our lives in the workplace\, be it in making basic ethical decisions or the way in which we lead our teams? \nJoin K.A. Ellis as we create a biblical foundation together to find God’s wisdom in our workplaces and develop strategies to see others to grow in wisdom\, grace\, and the knowledge of the Creator of the Universe Who is Wisdom Himself. Ellis\nK.A Ellis’ areas of interest include World Christianity and Ethics\, and she’s passionate about preparing the next generations to live faithfully under anti-Christian hostility. Her research areas include Bible\, theology\, ethics\, human rights and global religious freedom\, and has spoken and written often on Christian endurance under persecution. \nMrs. Ellis teaches and disciples young people at her local church on Bible and Global Christianity\, and is the Director of the Edmiston Center at Reformed Theological Seminary in Atlanta\, Georgia. She is also the Robert Cannada Fellow in World Christianity at Reformed Theological Seminary. \nAbout the series\nJames 3 tells us “wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving\, considerate\, submissive\, full of mercy and good fruit\, impartial and sincere.” James also tells us “if any of you lacks wisdom\, you should ask God\, who gives generously to all without finding fault\, and it will be given to you.” But how do we actually receive and live this out in our workplace? How does the wisdom of God affect our practical daily decisions? \nIn our 2024-25 Lunch + Learn series we will be looking at what it means to lean into wisdom in our vocational lives. We will look at: \n\nWhat does it look like to seek wisdom in job/career transitions?\nHow do we lean into wisdom in daily decisions in the workplace?\nHow does wisdom change how we posture ourselves in the world?\nWhat are practices we can build into our work rhythms that help to lead with wisdom?

SUMMARY:Faith Driven Networking Event
DESCRIPTION:The life of an entrepreneur is full of many joys but also numerous challenges. There is opportunity to create meaningful products and services for others\, but often times there can be feelings of extreme loneliness. There is the chance to provide life changing work for employees\, but also the burden of meeting financial quotas. Founders can earn the praise of the public\, while at the same time the fiduciary scrutiny of investors. The ups and downs of this journey can feel isolating and often discouraging with no clear person to share the struggle with. Christians working in this space are not immune to these challenges. Understanding how to trust God in this journey can feel daunting. \nWith this in mind\, Faith Co-Op is partnering with Faith Driven Entrepreneur to host quarterly gatherings for founders\, freelance workers\, investors\, and those in the startup space. The desire for these events is to create regular opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors to network\, make new connections\, and hear encouraging stories of how God is faithful even in the ups and downs of the business journey. \nThe next networking event is Wednesday\, November 13 from 5-7pm at the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga. We will provide drinks\, snacks\, and the space to meet and share stories with other entrepreneurs who are navigating what it means to lead an endeavor while also faithfully following Christ. \nWe are excited to have Antonio Tate\, owner of Party Bites Kitchen + Catering\, as our speaker. Antonio and his wife will talk about the importance of stewarding their businesses for the sake of others\, and how being faithful with a little has helped them be faithful as the business has grown. \nWe hope you will make time to join us for a time of networking and encouragement.
