SUMMARY:Lunch + Learn: Lessons from The Wise Leader
DESCRIPTION:What forms wisdom in us as leaders? \nThis talk explores the challenges of being a leader in a high-expectation\, 24/7 world. What insights and practices might biblical wisdom have to offer for Christian leaders today? Join us on Thursday\, May 1 for a conversation with Uli Chi\, author of The Wise Leader and board chair\, entrepreneur\, and frequent teacher of wisdom and leadership. \nWe hope to see you there! \nThis Lunch + Learn is sponsored by the Fuller De Pree Center. \n  \nAbout Uli Chi\nUli Chi\, PhD\, has served as the chair of the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Board of Directors since it was formed in January 2021. He was previously the board chair of CHI Franciscan and has served in health care governance leadership for over thirty years. During his business career\, Uli was an award-winning technology entrepreneur who founded and led a software company that developed 3-D virtual reality software to simplify complex decision-making for consumers and businesses. He holds a doctorate in computer science from the University of Washington. Uli is currently a senior fellow at the De Pree Center for Leadership and regularly writes and teaches on the subject of wisdom and leadership. \n  \nAbout the Lunch + Learn Series\nJames 3 tells us “wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving\, considerate\, submissive\, full of mercy and good fruit\, impartial and sincere.” James also tells us “if any of you lacks wisdom\, you should ask God\, who gives generously to all without finding fault\, and it will be given to you.” But how do we actually receive and live this out in our workplace? How does the wisdom of God affect our practical daily decisions? \nIn our 2024-25 Lunch + Learn series we will be looking at what it means to lean into wisdom in our vocational lives. We will look at: \n\nWhat does it look like to seek wisdom in job/career transitions?\nHow do we lean into wisdom in daily decisions in the workplace?\nHow does wisdom change how we posture ourselves in the world?\nWhat are practices we can build into our work rhythms that help to lead with wisdom?
