SUMMARY:Lunch + Learn: Gaining Daily Wisdom
DESCRIPTION:As Christians\, we know that Godly wisdom is an important part of our faith. But how do we 1) receive wisdom and 2) continually grow in that wisdom on a daily basis? \nWe’re excited to have Courtney Doctor\, Director of Women’s Initiatives for The Gospel Coalition\, share her experiences\, learnings\, and reflections on what part we play in laying hold of this wisdom God offers us in Christ. We hope to see you there! \nThis Lunch + Learn is sponsored by Elder’s Ace Hardware. \nAbout Courtney Doctor\nCourtney Doctor received an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary and currently serves as the Director of Women’s Initiatives for The Gospel Coalition. She is a Bible teacher and author of From Garden to Glory as well as several Bible studies including In View of God’s Mercies\, Behold and Believe\, and Remember your Joy. Courtney and her husband Craig have four children and five beautiful grandchildren. \nAbout the series\nJames 3 tells us “wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving\, considerate\, submissive\, full of mercy and good fruit\, impartial and sincere.” James also tells us “if any of you lacks wisdom\, you should ask God\, who gives generously to all without finding fault\, and it will be given to you.” But how do we actually receive and live this out in our workplace? How does the wisdom of God affect our practical daily decisions? \nIn our 2024-25 Lunch + Learn series we will be looking at what it means to lean into wisdom in our vocational lives. We will look at: \n\nWhat does it look like to seek wisdom in job/career transitions?\nHow do we lean into wisdom in daily decisions in the workplace?\nHow does wisdom change how we posture ourselves in the world?\nWhat are practices we can build into our work rhythms that help to lead with wisdom?
